Can you start an ATM business with just 1 ATM?
I get a lot of emails from people and even questions on ATM business strategy
sessions from people that ask the same question:
“Can I start an ATM business with just 1 ATM or do I have to invest in a lot of
them to make money?”
My answer to that question is a resounding YESSSSS, you can start your ATM business
with just 1 ATM.
If calling it an ATM business makes you feel uncomfortable and makes you feel like
you have to dedicate a lot of time and energy into your new “business” then fool your
mind and call it something else. Like perhaps it’s not the ATM business that you’re in
but you just happen to invest in ATMs…and you’re just starting with 1. 🙂
How’s that? If you want to become a real estate investor it’s not like you have to
buy 50 properties at one time, right? No, you start with 1 property whether it’s a
single family or multi-family property you still are starting with 1. The ATM
business (or investing in ATMs) is no different.
Will your potential for more money be greater if you have more ATMs in your ATM business?
Of course. That’s a no brainer and I probably didn’t need to tell you that, right?
I understand that some folks what to “dip their toe” into the water so to speak. Just to
see how it goes…..and that’s ok. It’s YOUR investment, remember?
When I first got started in the ATM business…..actually the very first day that I went
out talking to business owners I got 2 yes’s on my first day out! That means that 2 business
owners say “yes, you can put your ATM in my business!” That was on my first attempt.
Now my results are not typical, but I have a point here. We picked a day and installed
2 ATMs that day. The very 1st ATM we installed that day still to this day brings in anywhere
from $400 to $900 a month!
So, if I paid about $2,000 for that ATM (in 2009) and since 2009 it’s been brining in $400 to $900
per month consistently and that’s the ONLY ATM I wanted for my ATM business….is that a good
start for my ATM business?
You bet it is! And the fact that the start was so good convinced me to get further into the
ATM business.
In a nutshell though, the answer to the question is YES, you can start an ATM business with
just 1 ATM. That’s the beauty of the ATM business…it’s scaleable. Start with one ATM and
then grow as you see fit.

Hi Carey,
Do you think the atm business will still be around come 5 years down the road with ewallets coming out?
Yes, absolutely. They will be around a whole lot longer then 5 years, Mark. In the world, cash is still the #1 to pay for products and services and in the U.S. it’s #2.
They’ve been trying to get rid of cash for yearssssssss now. It hasn’t happened then and it won’t happen in our lifetime (or our kids lifetime or probably our kids’ kids’ lifetimes.)
HTH,
Carey

Good day! This is my 1st comment here so I just wanted to give a quick shout out and say I truly enjoy reading your blog posts. Can you recommend any other blogs/websites/forums that go over the same topics? Thanks for your time!
Hi there…
I don’t know any others that go over the ATM business the way I do. There are tons of blogs out there about passive income tho.
One of which is run by yours truly 🙂 That’s called Goin’ Flippin’ Crazy (with passive income streams.)
There are so many though in regards to passive income, you may want to try google to find some more. I love google! lol
Thanks for stopping by.
